The Monozukuri Subsidy is one of the subsidy projects introduced by the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency (SMEA) under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, based on the supplementary budget for fiscal year 2019 titled "Small and Medium Enterprise Productivity Revolution Promotion Project." An overview was announced by the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency on January 23, 2020. When introducing industrial robots, eligible expenses include "machinery and equipment costs" and "technology introduction costs." Although the name of the subsidy includes "Monozukuri," which gives the impression that it is limited to manufacturing industries with factories, this is not the case.
