Reliable current and voltage detection
Isolation amplifiers are used to detect current or voltage (like transducers) and provide electrical isolation. For example, they are used in the detection and measurement of phase currents and DC link voltages using shunt resistors in three-phase frequency converter power applications. The maximum measurable current value is limited by the sensor's input voltage range and the power loss of the shunt resistor. By using a sensor with an input voltage range of 50mV, currents exceeding 100A can be easily detected. Furthermore, with proper thermal management using the latest technology shunt resistors, it is also possible to measure currents of 1000A.
