Development of 'tactile devices'! The third interface alongside audio and video.
We would like to introduce a case study where vibrations transmitted through artificial skin were captured using a high-speed camera, and the characteristics were explored using DIC (Digital Image Correlation). The artificial skin is coated with a random dot pattern, and we matched how this fine dot group deforms to visualize the deformation patterns and strain. To intentionally create a complex propagation of force, three blocks of artificial skin with different softness levels were stacked, and stimulation was applied using a smartphone's vibration. As a result, it was found that there exists a unique deformation pattern (resonance mode) in the 150Hz range. 【Case Overview】 ■ Equipment Used - High-speed camera "MEMRECAM MX" - Analysis software "VIC-3D" ■ Setup - Stereo shooting using two cameras to measure 3D displacement (X, Y, Z directions) with high precision - Resolution set to 1,080×1,920 pixels, with a frame rate of 1,000 fps *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
