【Lecture Overview】 In 2020, electric power companies were divided into those engaged in generation and retail and those engaged in transmission and distribution. Our company has centralized procurement functions due to concerns about the decentralization and decline of procurement capabilities among former general electric utility companies. The Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 caused significant damage to facilities, weakening the management foundation. As a result, in 2013, we established a Procurement Reform Committee, aiming to change three aspects: "how to buy," "what to buy," and "how much to buy," and implemented measures to reduce procurement costs. Consequently, during the electricity rate revision in 2023, we were evaluated as the most efficient company among the applicants, but we are still being asked to further improve efficiency.
