LMD Laser Metal Deposition
LMD laser cladding is a new coating method that uses lasers, distinct from plating, thermal spraying, or welding methods. It coats a metal film by irradiating the target object with a laser and spraying metal powder. This technology reduces the thermal burden on the target object compared to welding and thermal spraying methods, minimizing distortion and strain, and achieves a strong adhesion through metallurgical bonding. Compared to plating, the construction speed is faster, allowing for thick film processing in the millimeter range for molds and similar applications. Additionally, it offers a wide range of substrate options, enabling the coating to possess the necessary functionality suitable for specific needs.
