Improvements in tools and S/N have enhanced sensitivity, detection capability, and defect location, allowing for evaluation over a shorter range.
In guided wave testing (GWT), unlike conventional ultrasonic testing which operates in the megahertz frequency range for thickness measurement, low-frequency ultrasound operating at 20 to 150 kHz is used. This allows GWT to propagate broadband ultrasound axially from the tool to the pipe. When this broadband ultrasound encounters changes in the cross-section, the sound is reflected back to the tool due to changes in the acoustic impedance of that area, allowing for detection. The circumferential welds of the pipe are used for sensitivity calibration, and by comparing the amplitudes of other signals with these welds, the extent of detected corrosion can be indicated. Furthermore, C-scan imaging technology and our product's unique secondary signals are also available. *For more detailed information, please refer to the PDF materials.
