SOFIXCAN Ω Eye (Omega Eye) is an IoT solution that can digitize operational status simply by installing cameras on existing equipment and machinery. It automatically reads various display information such as analog meters, digital meters, indicator lights, and text displays using image recognition technology, allowing for CSV output and integration with BI tools. Since no modifications to the equipment itself are required, it can be safely implemented even with older facilities. The camera recognition settings can be completed in three mouse-operated steps, requiring no specialized knowledge. It also supports remote monitoring from PCs and smartphones, with email notifications available in case of alarms. It is compatible with data integration with external systems such as MotionBoard, MTConnect, and i-Reporter, making it an optimal product for promoting DX and visualization throughout the factory. 【Case Study: Monitoring Operation of 16 Spinning Machines in a Textile Factory】 We installed Omega Eye on the indicator lights of 16 spinning machines to automatically determine the on/off status through fixed-point photography. A system was established to centrally manage the operational status in real-time using a Gantt chart displayed on a large screen. Previously, operators had to regularly patrol the factory and manually record operational data, which posed risks of human error and record omissions leading to production shortages and delivery delays. After the introduction of Omega Eye, we successfully reduced patrol work significantly and enabled analysis and improvement activities through the accumulation of operational data. Since it is an external installation method, there are no subscription costs, leading to substantial cost improvements. We plan to add more units in the future. 【Other Applications】 It can be widely utilized in challenging environments where equipment modifications are difficult, such as monitoring control panels of machine tools, automatic logging of meters for boilers and air conditioning systems, remote reading of instruments in clean rooms, and promoting digital transformation (DX) through IoT for aging equipment.
