What is a portable virtual reality system? Introducing a case study by Takahiro Minazawa from Keio University Graduate School!
Keio University Graduate School, Takahiro Minazawa [Topic] What is a portable virtual reality system? [Explanation] Mr. Minazawa developed a glove-type interface called GhostGlove that provides haptic feedback to the entire hand (palm and fingers). To measure the position and posture of the hand with GhostGlove, some kind of capture system is necessary. While searching for an optical motion capture system, he learned about OptiTrack from someone conducting similar research who mentioned that "there is an affordable system." Not only is the price appealing, but Mr. Minazawa is also pleased that the project could not have been realized without OptiTrack, particularly due to the size of the cameras. His research is most effective when it can be seen and experienced firsthand. Therefore, there are many opportunities to exhibit at trade shows and events. The cameras of OptiTrack are very small, about the size of a mobile phone, and a complete system with six cameras fits into two to three suitcases. This is very attractive when conducting demonstrations both domestically and internationally... *For more, please download the catalog.

In 1999, after about 20 years of using motion capture systems as users, we have sold numerous motion capture systems. What is common among the products we handle is that they are "products we want to use as users." We have carefully selected products that genuinely pursue "quality" and "time-saving." We have been able to assist a wide range of customers, from automotive and machinery manufacturers to schools, government agencies, and game companies. Moving forward, we will continue to incorporate new technologies and pursue further possibilities in motion capture.
