Photovoltaic element, Laser Power Converter
A photovoltaic element (Laser Power Converter, LPC) is a device that receives laser light from a remote location via fiber and converts that laser light into electrical power. There are versions designed for short wavelengths based on 850 nanometers GaAs and for long wavelengths based on 1400 nanometers InGaAs. They are used differently for short-distance and long-distance transmission. A few years ago, when we received a request from a customer, this product did not exist in the market. We developed it in collaboration with a technology group in the United States. The initial specifications required a clean power supply for sensors and amplifiers needed for various measurements in environments with poor noise conditions. Metal transmission was not feasible. Fiber power supply made it possible. Now, it has become an essential component for low-noise amplifiers in remote antennas for terrestrial digital broadcasting. Its use is also expected in remote antennas for mobile phones that require high-speed, high-capacity communication. It is becoming an essential part for specifications that require noise-free power supplies in locations where metal cannot provide power. The supply voltage can be accommodated from 2V. The conversion efficiency of laser light to power is currently achieving 35%.

The initial specifications required supplying clean power to sensors and amplifiers needed for various measurements in environments with poor noise conditions, which was not feasible with metal transmission. Fiber power supply made this possible. Now, it has become an essential component as a key part of low-noise amplifiers for remote antennas in terrestrial digital broadcasting. Applications/Examples of results
The history of photovoltaic devices (Laser Power Converters, LPC) is still relatively short, and their applications remain limited. They monitor the ambient temperature and pressure inside switchgear in power generation and transformation plants. In this case, when switching current inside the gear, very high voltage and high current sparks can occur, which in the worst case can not only prevent normal measurements but also destroy the sensor and amplifier systems. To prevent this, fiber power supply is used. In the case of remote antennas for terrestrial digital broadcasting, a clean power supply, which is impossible with metal power supply, is required for the antenna's low-noise amplifier, and this is achieved using fiber power supply with photovoltaic devices. The same applies to remote antennas for mobile phones. Research is also progressing at universities and research institutions on supplying power to IT equipment in entire buildings using solar cells and photovoltaic devices. Consideration for use in locations where metal transmission is not possible and where a noise-free power supply is required has just begun.

IES is a trading company in terms of its business model, but it has been involved for many years in the development, production, and marketing of measurement instruments and sensors for pressure, flow, weight, etc., as well as devices such as VCSEL, FPLD, and PINPD, optical components and products like Bidi modules, and PCB products ranging from ultra-fine PCBs like SD memory module substrates and MCP module substrates to standard substrates. We have made efforts to respond, even slightly, to our customers' specifications, price, and quality requirements by leveraging our experience, knowledge, and procurement routes. We ask ourselves, "Is there a product like this?" or "Is this specification impossible?" The voices of our customers become our assets. We were the first in the industry to launch pressure sensors and pressure switches that accurately detect a pressure of one Pascal. Moving forward, we are committed to honing our skills, treating the voices of our customers as our assets.
