In this service, we conduct hardness tests (hardness examinations), which are one of the methods for evaluating the "mechanical properties" of material surfaces, on a contract basis. Since the evaluation methods for hardness tests vary depending on the material and structure of the sample, it is important to appropriately select the testing equipment, sample preparation, and measurement conditions. At JTL, we support various hardness evaluations, primarily focusing on Vickers and micro-Vickers hardness as well as durometer hardness, and we provide evaluation data that matches the sample and testing objectives.

【Evaluation of various materials from metals to resins is possible】 Primarily, we can handle metals, ceramics, plastics, rubber (general rubber, hard rubber, soft rubber), and elastomers (medium hardness, high hardness), but we can also accommodate other materials. (*Some materials and structures may not be supported.) 【Support for measurements of thin films, micro areas, and low loads】 The micro Vickers hardness testing machine allows for the selection of test forces from 0.4903 mN to 19610 mN, making it possible to measure thin films such as coatings and platings, as well as small surfaces like IC bonding pads and the crystal grains of metal structures. 【Sample preparation such as cutting and polishing is also conducted】 To perform accurate hardness measurements, it is necessary to shape the sample and smooth the measurement surface through sample preparation. We also support cutting, resin embedding, and polishing required for sample preparation. 【Support for various evaluation tests, analyses, and measurement services】 In addition to hardness testing, we can also accommodate related evaluations such as tensile and compression tests, residual stress measurements, material composition analysis, and dimensional measurements.
