Rupture disc
<Overview> A rupture disk is a non-mechanical pressure safety device that reliably operates at a predetermined set pressure. It instantaneously relieves excessive pressure within a container at a preset pressure and temperature, protecting the system and equipment from excessive pressure caused by runaway reactions, human errors, and other factors, by releasing powders, liquids, or gases. <Features> Rupture disks are standardized as rupture disk safety devices under JIS B8226. JIS B8226 specifies that "this standard pertains to safety devices composed of rupture disks, holders, vacuum supports, etc., established to prevent damage to sealed devices such as pressure vessels, piping systems, and ducts due to excessive pressure or vacuum." By installing a weaker section (weak spot) in part of a pressure vessel or piping that is weaker than the strength of the pressure vessel or piping, when internal pressure rises abnormally, only this weak section will rupture, releasing the internal pressure and protecting the vessel or piping. A rupture disk is defined as this weak section, given specific conditions such as shape, dimensions, pressure, and temperature.

<Overview> A rupture disk is a non-mechanical pressure safety device that reliably operates at a predetermined set pressure. It instantaneously releases excess pressure within a container at a preset pressure and temperature, protecting the system and equipment from excessive pressure caused by runaway reactions, human errors, and other factors, by releasing powders, liquids, or gases. <Features> Rupture disks are standardized as rupture disk-type safety devices under JIS B8226. JIS B8226 specifies that "this standard is for safety devices composed of rupture disks, holders, vacuum supports, etc., established to prevent damage to sealed devices such as pressure vessels, piping systems, and ducts due to excessive pressure or vacuum." By installing a weak point in a pressure vessel or piping that is weaker than the strength of the pressure vessel or piping itself, when internal pressure rises abnormally, only this weak point will rupture, releasing the internal pressure and protecting the vessel or piping. A rupture disk is defined as this weak point, given specific conditions such as shape, dimensions, pressure, and temperature.

Applications/Examples of results
<Usage> Used to protect pressure vessels, equipment, and piping in various plants such as chemical plants and nuclear/power plants from dangers such as abnormal pressure increases and pressure increases due to chemical reactions. While this aspect is similar to safety valves, rupture discs are more effective in preventing dangers from leaks of flammable, toxic, and expensive gases, as well as radioactive fluids, and from the sticking of viscous fluids.
