The ThermoMax high-intensity light source from PerkinElmer, Inc. is a compact and robust short arc lamp. It features pre-aligned internal reflectors and is a reliable Xe lamp (xenon lamp) that covers a broad spectrum from ultraviolet to visible to infrared. Since the internal reflector is integrated with the lamp, no adjustments are required by the user. Additionally, a single crystal sapphire window is used, which allows for excellent transmission across the ultraviolet to infrared range. Typically, issues associated with quartz lamps include mechanical strength, the opacity of quartz, and the adjustment of external reflectors, but the ThermoMax lamp has resolved all of these problems.
