Also known as industrial chrome plating, it is a representative industrial plating that possesses many excellent mechanical properties such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and release properties.
Hard chrome plating is a technique known as electroplating, which uses electrical power to reduce metal ions in a solution and form a new coating (chromium metal) on the surface of the material. This allows for functionality to be applied only to the necessary areas, enabling the use of materials with minimal required functions instead of expensive high-performance materials. By applying hard chrome plating to the surface, it is possible to fully utilize the functions while keeping material costs low. Additionally, because it can be reprocessed, if a product gets scratched, it can be easily repaired by stripping the plating and re-plating. Even if dimensions become smaller due to wear, repairs can be made by adding material through plating. Otec also develops original chrome plating, including "Tef-Lock," a plating that incorporates Teflon for excellent release properties, and "Cloamore," a plating that increases hardness and achieves crack resistance by adding carbon to the chrome plating. At the request of customers, it is also possible to process the surface to a super mirror finish or a matte finish. For more details, please contact us. URL: http://www.otec-kk.co.jp/

basic information
◆◇◆Features◆◇◆ ◆Hardness Generally, it is considered to be above Hv700, but Otec provides high hardness plating of over Hv900 by adjusting the liquid composition. Among normal electroplating, it has the highest hardness, far exceeding that of heat-treated steel and nitrided steel. ◆Wear Resistance Due to the high hardness of the coating, wear resistance is also high; as the hardness of the coating increases, the amount of wear decreases. ◆Heat Resistance Heating above 400°C causes a rapid decrease in hardness. Therefore, Otec uses a dedicated furnace for baking to remove hydrogen after plating, conducted under strict temperature control. ◆Corrosion Resistance The surface of the coating is covered with an oxide film, making it strong against corrosion and excellent in corrosion resistance. It is stable against chemicals other than chlorides. ◆Oil Retention Due to the fine cracks on the plating surface, it has excellent oil retention properties. If further enhancement of oil retention is desired, it is also possible to accommodate porous chrome plating with widened cracks. ◆Build-up Capability The typical plating thickness is 0.02 to 0.05 mm, but for repairs aimed at dimensional restoration, thicker plating (approximately 0.5 mm) is also possible.
