Microfinish is a process that smooths the surface of metal by leveling out extremely fine scratches through a two-step blasting treatment, making it easier for resin to flow. ■ Step 1 After metal processing treatments such as polishing or electrical discharge machining, the surface is contaminated with dirt, burrs, white layers, and foreign substances, which can lead to issues like mold sticking and coating peeling if left untreated. First, these substances are removed without altering the shape of the underlying metal substrate. ■ Step 2 After Step 1, the metal surface is clean, with dirt and burrs removed, but it still has depressions and protrusions that make it unusable. In Step 2, the uneven surface is accurately leveled and refined. ■ Effects of Microfinish - Increased extrusion discharge force - Reduced resin burning during molding - Decreased resin drooling (resin drips) - Improved resin flowability, shortened and simplified cleaning time It is effective for molds such as crossheads, dies/nipples, breaker plates, screws, and injection molds!!
