basic information
RULER is an ASTM-certified, state-of-the-art method for analyzing the reduction rate of lubricant oil antioxidants. RULER can monitor changes in the residual concentration of antioxidants in lubricating oil, thereby aiding in the evaluation of remaining life and identification of the types of antioxidants, making it a high-precision analytical device. When comparing RULER to traditional oil acidity test methods such as RPVOT (RBOT), DSC, and FTIR, its features include: - Usage: A sample is taken with a pipette, mixed in a vial containing 5 ml of solvent, and the RULER probe is inserted for measurement. - Only a very small amount of sample is needed (200–400 μl). - No specialized chemical knowledge is required. - It is portable (weighing less than 1 kg), allowing for on-site analysis. - The testing time is short (less than 5 minutes), making it ideal for field analysis. It is known that lubricating oil begins to deteriorate as soon as the concentration of antioxidants decreases, resulting in changes in physical and chemical properties such as color, viscosity, and odor. Therefore, by utilizing the voltammetry test results obtained on-site, it becomes possible to select oils for RPVOT and FTIR tests, making RULER a new tool that can save end users on oil analysis costs, time, and oil replacement expenses.
