The GMR sensor is a linear encoder with a simple structure, robust resolution of 6.25μm, and heat resistance up to 120°C. It is a semi-absolute type linear encoder that measures displacement absolutely within the linear displacement (1 pitch) of the sleeve, and incrementally through pitch counting when exceeding that range. It is available in both a type that detects the displacement of the sleeve and a compact detection sensor type that is inserted into a notched rod.
