This is a fiber optic type proximity switch. The switching principle is based on the magnetic Faraday effect, where the polarization plane of light rotates due to the influence of a magnetic field. Since there are no moving parts in the sensor body, it is a highly reliable product. By placing multiple switches along the fiber optic line, long-distance open/close (proximity) monitoring can be performed. The product is designed to withstand outdoor use with waterproof and dustproof measures in place. (This product was developed through technical cooperation between Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. and Hitachi Cable, Ltd.)
