This is a case study of a preform (test tube-shaped) molding machine from SACMI, which is created before the blow molding of PET bottles. When removing the preform from the mold, the balloon gripper holds the neck portion, extracts it from the mold, and drops it onto a conveyor. Generally, many cases involve the combination of a vacuum pump and nozzle for extraction from the mold, but gripping with a balloon gripper is one solution that can securely grasp the preform without damaging it. It is an optimal gripper for processes that require handling and transporting not only the container but also the cylindrical part without causing any damage.
