Traditionally, polyethylene bags (poly bags) have been made to order in terms of thickness, width, and length. While custom production allows for sizes that meet customer specifications, it typically involves long lead times and minimum production lots of several thousand pieces (which varies by size). As a result, customers who only use a few hundred bags a year may take several years to use up a single lot. If they become long-term inventory, the quality will inevitably decline, which goes against the demand for quality improvement in today's market.
