A request for dimensional inspection has come from a wood processing machinery manufacturer. Recently, due to the impact of declining birth rates and an aging population in various fields, securing skilled workers has become a significant social issue. It seems that the opportunity has arrived to survive and grow businesses by entrusting inspections and judgments to image analysis instead of relying solely on human visual inspection. [Inspection Settings and Results] By using EasyInspector's "Dimensional Angle Inspection" feature, we were able to determine the dimensions at four locations in 0.72 seconds. We set up inspection frames to detect the edge portions when measuring the dimensions of each part. The background was made white to facilitate edge detection. The greater the contrast in brightness, the easier it is to detect edges. To prevent shadows, the lighting is positioned to illuminate from both sides. The left image shows the master image (with the inspection area outlined in pink and green), while the right image displays the detection of good products with a blue detection frame.

We prepare lighting, cameras, lenses, etc., to test whether we can detect the defects we want to see. Typically, we request about two types of samples and detection targets. Since simple verification is a task to confirm the feasibility of detection, quantitative evaluations such as detection accuracy using a large number of samples and the correlation between image resolution and detection accuracy are generally not included. [Inspection Setup and Results] We conducted an inspection of the presence or absence of parts (balls) using the samples you provided. By using ring lighting to make the balls appear black, we were able to determine the presence or absence of the five parts in 0.14 seconds using EasyInspector's "specified color presence check" function.

The AI image inspection software measures the dimensions of the labels attached to the parts.

This time, we received an inquiry from a contract analysis company. Work size: approximately 100mm × 100mm. Seal size: approximately 10mm (width). We created a model and conducted a simple verification. In cases where we receive inquiries, there are many instances where we cannot send sample products or sample images due to compliance and security concerns. [Inspection Settings and Results] Using EasyInpector's "Dimension Angle Inspection," we referred to the materials you provided and measured the tolerances with the seals applied by our company. This time, we measured only one location for each seal, but it is actually possible to measure four points simultaneously. We used a 5-megapixel camera (2592 × 1944) with a field of view of 180mm horizontally, capturing images of a 100mm × 100mm metal plate. We measured by applying two seals, each 10mm wide. There was some slight shaking during imaging, resulting in an error of 3 to 4 pixels, but detection with an accuracy of 0.5 to 0.7mm in tolerance is theoretically possible. Increasing the camera resolution will improve accuracy further.

During the inspection stage of wood cutting, you were considering cutting a board measuring 2m in length and a certain width from 5mm to 160mm while avoiding defective parts and cutting at the right timing. 【Inspection Settings and Results】 For knots, we used the "Color Comparison Inspection / Presence or Absence of Specified Color" function of EasyInspector. The specified color was set to the color of the knots. An inspection frame the size of one kamaboko board was set from the edge of the board, and this area was divided into four parts for the presence or absence color inspection. To capture the roughness of the board, we dimmed the indoor lighting and illuminated it from an angle, which allowed us to detect the roughness. The inspection item was "Scratch Inspection." No alignment correction was applied for the inspection of the flowing boards.
