The "IKP Louver" originated from the intrusion of rainwater blown up by the sea breeze through the intake louver of an emergency generator soundproof shelter installed at the coastline. It was designed to effectively prevent wind and rain without utilizing a large hood or significantly altering the exterior, while maintaining an opening ratio of over 90% and ensuring low air resistance. The key idea lies in the diversification of a large single-shaped hood. The evolution of the actual concept is illustrated in photos 1, 2, and 3. 【Basic Structure for Expanding Opening Ratio】 Figure 1 illustrates the key point of the concept. It effectively prevents rain from below against the inner vertical opening surface, while keeping the outer opening horizontal to allow for an expanded free volume.

We would like to introduce a case study of exterior construction handled by Okju. The Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, New Building, consists of a total of 12 floors, including 2 basement levels and 10 above ground. It inherits the classical atmosphere of the main building while boasting a design and functionality that rival it. In particular, the decorative unit panels installed on the exterior of the top floor, which were constructed by our company, serve as a significant visual accent. Due to the volume and construction period, we repeatedly examined the construction methods, and combined vertical aluminum louvers and horizontal aluminum spandrels into large panels during the manufacturing process. These were then suspended using a large crane, and installation was carried out from the inside, which helped shorten the construction period and reduce external scaffolding. We would like to introduce the construction case of a station handled by Okju. In the railway industry, pigeon damage to station buildings and platform roofs is a very serious problem. This time, West Japan Railway Company requested a finish using ceiling base materials, and as a result of development considerations, we adopted the "MB Louver," which can prevent pigeons from entering the ceiling interior. It is an extremely simple single-slope line louver composed of two types of components: the louver body using ceiling battens and the stringer. By selecting from several types of louver pitches, various expressions can be created, and if a specific pitch is chosen, it is also effective for pigeon prevention, allowing for a sharp ceiling design in places such as station buildings, platforms, and corridors, where movement lines should be considered.
