[Column] About Titanium Machining

You will understand the key points when performing lathe and milling machining! This explains the reasons why titanium machining is difficult.

Cutting titanium is considered very difficult. This is due to the properties of titanium, such as its low thermal conductivity and low Young's modulus. Therefore, when performing lathe or milling operations, it is very important to take measures such as reducing the cutting speed and using cutting oil. Additionally, if there is vibration, the product may become uneven, so it is necessary to pay attention to the installation location of the cutting machine. This article will explain the reasons why cutting titanium is challenging. [Contents] ■ Reasons why cutting titanium is difficult ■ Points to consider when cutting titanium *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Column] About Brass Machining: Points to Note and Two Key Considerations During Processing

Alloy of copper and zinc! An explanation of machining brass (yellow brass) with examples included.

Brass, also known as yellow copper, is processed into familiar items such as five-yen coins, while it is said to be a metal material that is difficult to machine. As an alloy of copper and zinc, its softness and good ductility can be considered major characteristics of brass. This provides the advantage of being easy to process into complex shapes, but it can also lead to issues such as scratches and burrs caused by cutting chips during machining. This article explains the points and precautions regarding the machining of brass, along with examples of machining cases. Please use this as a reference when requesting brass processing. [Contents] ■ Precautions in brass machining ■ Key points in brass machining ■ Examples of brass machining by craftsmen *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

[Column] On the Processing of Nickel Alloys

What is nickel alloy? Introducing four reasons why machining is difficult and examples of processing.

Nickel alloys excel in heat resistance and corrosion resistance, making them indispensable for mechanical parts used in high-temperature environments such as gas turbines and incinerators. However, due to these characteristics, they are referred to as "difficult-to-machine materials," highlighting the challenges of cutting processing. On social media, there are prominent voices expressing that "nickel alloys are difficult, costly, and we don't want to take orders," making them a challenging material for craftsmen. But why is it said that processing them is difficult? In this article, we will explain the reasons why nickel alloys are considered difficult to process from the perspectives of "strength at high temperatures," "hardness," and "relationship with tools." Additionally, in the latter part, we will introduce our company's actual processing achievements for nickel alloys. [Contents] ■ Four reasons why cutting processing of nickel alloys is difficult ■ Introduction of nickel alloy processing achievements at our Kujo factory in Osaka ■ The process of manufacturing nickel alloy parts and how to place orders *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Proposal Example] Thin-walled Aluminum Processing

Final processing using a method that does not produce fixed stress! Introducing examples that suppress the occurrence of distortion.

We would like to introduce examples of how we addressed our customers' challenges and requests. In the machining of aluminum plates, there was a case where, during the process of machining to a thickness of 0.4mm, bulging and distortion occurred on the backside due to machining stress from the machine. By increasing the number of rough machining processes and machining as close to the final shape as possible, followed by final processing using a chucking method that does not generate fixed stress, we were able to suppress the occurrence of distortion and meet the flatness requirements for the outer surface of the product. [Case Overview] ■ Challenges - Bulging and distortion on the backside due to machining stress from the machine - Need to process a product that requires a flatness of 3/100mm for the entire product ■ Proposal - Increase the number of rough machining processes and machine as close to the final shape as possible - Final processing using a chucking method that does not generate fixed stress *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Proposal Example] High-precision products made from materials with high processing difficulty.

The key point is that everything is handled by machining! Successful case studies of processing high-difficulty materials.

We would like to introduce a case study of how we addressed our customer's challenges and requests. In this case, the processing of a relatively difficult material, A2017, was the main issue. Therefore, by using a fixture called a "form clamp," we were able to achieve the tolerance of the inner circle and coaxial accuracy. 【Case Overview】 ■Challenges - Processing of a relatively difficult material, A2017, which is an aluminum alloy. - Processing of large items over Φ300, while needing to achieve inner circle precision. - Difficult to process and labor-intensive. - Since it is round, using a lathe would be ideal, but it is too large to grip. - Unable to achieve coaxial accuracy. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
