Development of brake discs for high-speed trains using laser cladding.
Successful development of next-generation high-speed train vehicle brake discs using lasers!!
Using laser cladding technology, we conducted surface modification with newly developed materials, resulting in the successful development of foundational technology for brake discs aimed at next-generation high-speed railway vehicles that meet target performance. [Background of Research and Development] Considering the increasing thermal load associated with the further acceleration of railway vehicles, the application of existing steel brake discs is approaching its limits. There is a need to further enhance reliability against thermal loads, which has led to the exploration of methods to form a heat-resistant layer on the friction surface of brake discs. This research and development aims to develop brake discs for next-generation high-speed railway vehicles using laser cladding. This project has been adopted as part of the "FY 2014 Strategic Basic Technology Advancement Support Project."
