Case Study 1 of Renovation of Slate Warehouse Roof using the SOSEI Method

Case study of slate warehouse roof renovation using thermal insulation coating waterproofing.

【Overview of Renovation Case】 Project Name: Renovation of Slate Roof at Warehouse in a Certain Location Location: Izumi-Otsu City, Osaka Prefecture Construction Period: April 2019 Area: Two Gable Roofs (Large Wave Slate) Construction Area: 1,856m2 【Background of Construction Method Adoption】 Due to the wind force of Typhoon No. 21 that struck in 2018, the large wave slate on the warehouse roof was cracked and scattered. The client, seeking early operation of the manufacturing line, considered repair techniques and concluded that: - Roof damage due to typhoons was occurring frequently in various locations, causing delays in responses from repair contractors. - Although the adoption of a steel plate cover method was considered, it would significantly increase the load burden on the structural framework, and there was a risk of the roof being lifted by strong winds if another typhoon struck. → *For more details, please download the PDF. Tile roofing

Beautiful traditional Japanese roofing materials. It is a method of roofing using split boards of cedar and cypress, offering a high degree of flexibility in material choice.

Kakibuki is a traditional Japanese roofing technique that uses materials such as cedar and sawara. It allows for elegant curves and a sense of heaviness in the eaves, and while it is primarily seen in important cultural properties today, its popularity in Nordic-style architecture has led to its increasing use in new architectural designs. When using the same specifications as regular kakibuki, the raw material costs are generally high. However, it can be adapted to fit your budget, so consulting during the design phase will help ensure a smooth process. 【Kakibuki Features】 - Made with split boards of sawara and cedar, offering high material flexibility. [Construction Example] System Building - Automotive Parts Factory (Ibaraki Prefecture)

We adopted Galvalume steel sheet for the roofing material! Introducing a case study of a car parts factory construction!

We will introduce a construction example of "system architecture" that allows for the selection of suitable roofs, walls, and structures based on the purpose and size of factories and warehouses, as well as the regional environment, achieving short construction periods and low costs. In an automotive parts factory located in Ibaraki Prefecture, K. Wall was used for the exterior wall material, and Galvalume steel sheet was used for the roof material. The interior wall material was finished with decorative calcium silicate board. The construction was conducted adjacent to an operational factory, requiring the utmost care. Despite the complexity of creating an underground pit (mechanical pit) in the center of the building alongside the construction, a short construction period of six months was achieved. 【Construction Example】 - Completion Date: January 2009 (Heisei 21) - Location: Ibaraki Prefecture - Total Floor Area: 1326.96 m² (401 tsubo) *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
