[Technical Proposal Example] Proposal for Extending the Lifespan of Special Inserts (Regrind Tools)

An example of improving the sharpness and durability of the cutting edge by aligning the tool's processing direction and polishing grain in the same direction.

We would like to introduce a case where our technical proposal improved the sharpness and durability of tool cutting edges. The customer in question came to us with concerns that the cutting edge of their re-sharpened turning tool was chipping immediately upon use. In response, we suggested aligning the tool's machining direction with the grinding direction. To match the machining method with the grinding direction, we changed the grinding direction from horizontal to vertical, which improved both cutting performance and durability. [Challenges] - The re-sharpened turning tool was chipping immediately, despite being intended for turning operations. - There was a discrepancy in lifespan between new and re-sharpened tools, making inventory management difficult. - Increased setup changes and more re-sharpening led to higher costs. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*
