The clock on the JR station platform is clear even without any lights shining on it!
The clock face at the JR station uses a transparent colored plastic sheet mixed with the special light-collecting dye we handle. When white letters are printed on this plastic sheet, the letters shine clearly and vividly. Traditionally, they were illuminated by batteries, but such hassle is completely unnecessary now. Even just at JR Tokyo Station, it greatly contributes to energy conservation and power saving.
