Misreading Prevention Radio Wave Shield: Simple Experiment with UHF Band RFID Signal Blocking Material

The interruption of the radio waves was confirmed not by measuring devices or the generation of noise (interference), but by checking the recognition capability of UHF band RFID.

UHF band RFID has the advantage of being able to recognize multiple targets over long distances (typically a few to about 10 meters), but it struggles with recognizing specific areas or orientations, leading to cases of unintended tag recognition, commonly referred to as "misreads." The basic countermeasure is to limit the reach of the radio waves from the reader side through "radio wave shielding," or to eliminate the radio wave path to tags that cause unintended recognition.
