The "spring-loaded seal" is a high-performance seal that combines a PTFE-based jacket with a corrosion-resistant metal spring. The PTFE jacket has excellent chemical resistance and a wide temperature range, and the metal spring accommodates deformation due to wear and shrinkage or expansion of the seal. It can replace O-rings and oil seals, contributing to the high performance of gas and liquid handling equipment. There is a rich lineup, including options like the "scraper lip," which emphasizes scraping ability. For applications with rotational speeds exceeding 3 MPa, we recommend using spring-loaded seals. Since the seal lip is primarily made of PTFE, it can be used in dry environments. Reusing the seal is possible at the customer's discretion! We are applying surface pressure using the elasticity of the spring!

【Issues】 When installing a metal seal, a mirror finish of generally 0.4Rmax or higher is essential. This has led to problems such as the inability to reuse seals and the hassle of regrinding. 【Improvements and Effects】 The spring-loaded seal uses Teflon as the main sealing material and applies surface pressure using the elasticity of the spring. Therefore, it does not damage the hardware during installation. For fluids that are prone to leakage (such as cryogenic temperatures, helium gas, and hydrogen gas), a finish of 0.4 to 0.8Rmax is required, but generally, a finish of 0.8 to 1.6Rmax is sufficient for use. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Inert to most fluids! Also used as a backup ring for rubber seals!

【Issues】 The commonly used packing materials are primarily rubber such as Viton and HNBR, which are considered suitable for high-temperature applications. However, when temperatures exceed 200°C, as is often the case with SN cylinders, deterioration is unavoidable. In severe conditions, there have been reports of cases where packing replacement is necessary every 2 to 3 weeks. 【Improvements and Effects】 The spring-loaded seal combines PTFE, which excels in heat resistance, sliding, and extrusion resistance, with the high-temperature spring characteristics of 17-7PH, achieving sealing performance and long lifespan that were difficult with conventional packings. Practical examples in Japan are steadily increasing, and many end users and cylinder manufacturers have adopted this solution. 【Examples】 (Lab Test) Test Conditions: Unloaded sliding test: 10 reciprocations (full stroke) - 9.8 MPa (100 kg/cm²) pressure resistance: 10 pressure tests (1 minute each) - 20.6 MPa (210 kg/cm²) pressure resistance: 10 pressure tests (1 minute each) *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
