CAE: The concept of inverse bending analysis

A CAD model that ignores mold design! We are considering applying it to various automotive parts in the future.

Our company has increasingly been utilizing resin flow analysis for product launches. However, if the analysis indicates that the deformation does not remain within the target amount, we will need to reconsider the product shape. That said, there are often cases where the product shape cannot be significantly altered due to specifications. Furthermore, even if we were to make substantial changes to the product shape, we cannot guarantee that it would remain within the target deformation amount. As a solution, our company is implementing "inverse warpage analysis" as one approach to effectively utilize analysis results and reconstruct models. Currently, there are requests to apply this to certain automotive parts, and we are considering its application to various automotive components in the future. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.*

CAE: Material property settings in the plastic domain

Approximate the plasticity domain with a single straight line! We will use a method called "two-line approximation" to reduce computation time.

Many resins have properties in both the elastic region and the plastic region. In the elastic region, the strain returns to zero when the stress is removed, resulting in linear behavior. However, in the plastic region, the strain does not return to zero when the stress is removed, leading to nonlinear behavior. To perform calculations in the nonlinear region during structural analysis, it is necessary to input material properties. However, inputting properties for the nonlinear region requires entering strain values for each stress point, which is quite cumbersome. Additionally, the computation time becomes longer. To simplify the input of material properties, we use a method called "two-line approximation" to shorten the computation time. This approach replaces the properties of the resin from the yield point to the fracture point with a single straight line (tangent modulus). This method is particularly suitable for quickly checking design values in models with a large number of elements and significant computational scale. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.*

[R-FLOW Analysis Case] Particle Drying Analysis in a Spray Dryer

Drying analysis of particles (droplets) inside a spray dryer using the thermal fluid and powder analysis software "R-FLOW".

This is a case study of multiphase flow analysis that reproduces the process of droplets (fine particles) drying as they come into contact with high-temperature gas inside a spray dryer. The behavior, temperature, and evaporation rate of droplets injected from the top of the tank are analyzed using a discrete element method (DEM) model that incorporates a uniquely developed representative particle (coarsening) model. As drying progresses, the particles (droplets) gradually become smaller and either disappear within the tank or exit through the outlet at the bottom. Meanwhile, high-temperature gas flows in from the top of the tank and exits from the bottom. The concentration of water vapor in the gas is also analyzed. In the figure, the particles are displayed larger than their actual size.

Utilization examples / Gatepost analysis * Model creation (M-Φ Fiber model)

Static and dynamic analysis of important related structures of dams, such as gate pillars and weirs! Structural analysis software 'ISCEF' suitable for civil engineering structures.

We would like to introduce a case study on the use of the structural analysis software 'ISCEF', which is suitable for civil engineering structures. The gatepost is the part that serves as the pillar for the gate and the superstructure. If the gatepost itself is damaged, it will become impossible to open and close the gate, leading to an inability to adjust the water level, which in the worst-case scenario could result in the collapse of the dam. Therefore, improvements in seismic resistance are required for this important related structure of the dam. Our company undertakes tasks such as creating models of gateposts (M-Φ model, fiber model), conducting capacity analysis using the horizontal load-bearing method, and performing dynamic analysis. 【Gatepost Analysis】 ■ Eigenvalue Analysis ■ Static and Dynamic Analysis *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Technical Data: About ISCEF Viscous Boundary

A detailed explanation using diagrams about free space and dashpot elements!

This technical document introduces the ISCEF viscous boundary. A viscous boundary is a boundary condition that absorbs energy from reflected waves from structures at the boundary surface of the analysis model. Generally, in ground models, a viscous boundary is set at the bottom surface with the foundation and a viscous boundary is set laterally with the free ground. In ISCEF, by setting the viscous boundary at the interface, subsequent settings are automatically performed as described later. [Contents] ■1. Normal viscous boundary (viscous boundary using dashpot elements) ■2. Viscous boundary based on the principle of virtual work *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Technical Documentation: About Eigenvalue Analysis

Publication on free vibrations ignoring damping! Detailed explanation using formulas.

This technical document introduces eigenvalue analysis. Eigenvalue analysis of structural vibration problems refers to the analysis that calculates the frequencies and deformation modes when a structure undergoes free vibration. These frequencies are called natural frequencies, and when external loads with frequencies close to these natural frequencies are applied, resonance phenomena occur. In real phenomena, structures vibrate at their natural frequencies while being damped during free vibration, but here we will explain free vibration while ignoring damping. 【Contents】 ■ About Eigenvalue Analysis *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*
