Even in processes involving multiple people, work can be carried out without variation! A case study of standardizing intuitive opening and closing operations.
We would like to introduce a case where a pharmaceutical manufacturer adopted a "ball valve with scale."
Before the introduction, each operator opened and closed the valve based on their own judgment, resulting in varying degrees of opening among operators.
To address this, a manual ball valve was introduced to adjust the liquid volume during the granulation process of the drug, along with a scale plate that indicates the opening angle for standardizing operations.
After the introduction, tasks could be clearly specified, such as "60 degrees for 10 seconds," leading to the standardization of operations and improvement in quality.
[Case Overview]
■ Challenges before introduction
- Operators opened and closed the valve based on their own judgment, resulting in different degrees of opening among operators.
■ After introduction
- Tasks could be clearly specified, such as "60 degrees for 10 seconds."
- Led to the standardization of operations and improvement in quality.
