When dissimilar metals are joined together in the ground, a potential difference occurs between them, and current flows through the bolts, causing the less noble metal to corrode. By using Tomoe's "Insulated Bolts and Nuts," the areas between flanges and between flanges and bolts/nuts are electrically insulated, preventing electrolytic corrosion. Stainless steel is treated with a dry seizure (galling) prevention coating called "TOM Coat" on the threaded parts of the nuts. Additionally, various steel types can be treated upon request.
