[Event] AnyScript Case Study Meeting Second Session Report

This time the theme is product ergonomics! It has become a large event with an attendance of 100 people.

We held the "AnyScript Case Study Meeting, Second Session" for the musculoskeletal analysis software AnyBody on April 26, 2022 (Tuesday). This time, the theme was product ergonomics, and we had users introduce real examples of how AnyBody has been used in the ergonomic design of industrial products. We shared modeling using AnyScript with all participants. Attendees included users who utilize AnyBody for product development, university research users, and those considering starting musculoskeletal simulation, resulting in a large event with around 100 participants. [Structural Analysis Example] Viscoelastic Effects

Even in cases where strong geometric nonlinearity is present, "LS-DYNA (explicit method)" will follow!

Rubber and resin materials possess a material property known as viscoelasticity. In "LS-DYNA," this property is represented by nine types of constitutive models for rubber materials (hyperelastic materials), such as the Mooney-Rivlin and Ogden models, and six types for resin materials (viscoelastic materials), such as Maxwell/Kelvin and Prony series viscoelastic bodies. Even in cases where strong geometric nonlinearity is present, LS-DYNA (explicit method) will follow through. 【Features of LS-DYNA】 ■ Nine types of models for rubber materials, including Mooney-Rivlin and Ogden models ■ Six types of viscoelastic bodies for resin materials, including Maxwell/Kelvin and Prony series *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

GUI software for OpenFOAM users

A GUI (Graphical User Interface) that anyone can intuitively operate reduces the user burden when generating OpenFOAM input files.

GUI-FOAM is an intuitive GUI software that can be operated easily. Explanations and hints are displayed throughout the screen, and help and tutorials can be easily accessed via a browser. When you input analysis conditions, a list of solvers suitable for your purpose is displayed, and you can specify the version of OpenFOAM for the input files to be generated. 【Features】 - By following the GUI settings, appropriate input files can be created. - Solvers, models, and configuration items can be selected from a list. - Function table settings can be visually confirmed with 2D graphs. - Boundary conditions can be set while checking the mesh boundaries, among others. OpenFOAM is a license-free software with features comparable to commercial CFD software, but the lack of official documentation and GUI is undeniable. Our company has published a practical guide titled "OpenFOAM Library Reference" as an alternative to the official documentation, and we are developing a GUI that reflects the content of the guide to improve the OpenFOAM analysis environment and enhance usability. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[MHPSE] Industrial VR System 'IC.IDO' Case Study

Industrial VR that allows real-time confirmation of specifications and operation checks with a 3D mockup!

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe needed a tool to verify product specifications before bidding in order to reduce risks associated with discrepancies and defects after winning bids. "IC.IDO" allows different departments and personnel involved in large-scale building design to confirm specifications and functionality in real-time using a 3D mock-up, enhancing mutual understanding between departments and significantly shortening development time. Additionally, by discovering and improving defects before entering the construction process, it was possible to reduce the risks of project delays and damages due to quality issues. [Implementation Effects] ■ Everyone involved can review in real-time at full scale ■ Discover and improve defects before entering the construction process ■ Reduce risks of project delays and damages due to quality issues *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

CAE software "Simerics MP+" strong in electric pumps.

Simulate the flow characteristics of volumetric pumps such as gear pumps and vane pumps! A CAE software specialized for pumps that other CAE software struggles with!

Simerics MP+ is a fluid simulation tool designed to calculate the transient characteristics of various volumetric pumps, compressors, and valves. It is developed based on the thermal fluid simulation tool Simerics MP and utilizes all the features of Simerics MP. 【The following fluid analyses are possible】 ■ Free surface flow ■ Flow considering the compressibility of air contained in liquids ■ Pressure pulsations and water hammer effects ■ Coupling of pump flow with the rigid body motion of valves and cam rings ■ Flow in low to medium vacuum conditions ■ Compressible flow (subsonic) ■ Cavitation ■ Time variations of flow field (velocity vectors, pressure), flow rate, fluid forces, and torque Its greatest strength is the ability to automatically create meshes with clearances in the µm range, which is difficult with other general-purpose fluid analysis software!! Recently, there has been an increase in achievements with oil pumps for automotive and construction machinery, such as vane pumps for power steering and CVTs, and trochoidal pumps for engine lubrication. *There is a lot of information that cannot be posted online. Especially, the actual mesh creation and movement should be demonstrated in a demo presentation!

[Case Study] Optimization of the Entire SUV Vehicle

Successfully reduced weight by approximately 12%! Introduction of a case study on "DEP MeshWorks".

We would like to introduce a case study of the all-in-one CAE platform "DEP MeshWorks" that our company handles, implemented by major automotive manufacturers in North America. The customer was interested in our solution to achieve the challenge of reducing the weight of an SUV while maintaining performance targets by using parameterization of thickness and shape. The main method we proposed was a Design of Experiments (DOE) based multi-domain optimization/design exploration using "DEP MeshWorks" and CAD morphing. The multi-domain optimization/design exploration method based on parameterization using MeshWorks successfully reduced the weight by approximately 12% while meeting all performance targets. [Case Study] ■Challenge - Reduce the weight of the SUV while maintaining performance targets - Provide the optimized CAD model to the design team ■Proposal - DOE-based multi-domain optimization/design exploration using MeshWorks and CAD morphing *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Weight reduction of 11 kg for the entire SUV vehicle.

Introduction of lightweighting through parameterization and multi-domain optimization/design exploration, along with case studies.

We would like to introduce a case study of the all-in-one CAE platform "DEP MeshWorks" that our company handles, implemented by a major automobile manufacturer. They faced the challenge of reducing the weight of the existing SUV product line (a significant amount achievable during manufacturing) without compromising performance, with minimal packaging and component changes. To address this, we conducted a three-phase approach consisting of baseline evaluation, parameterization using MeshWorks, and optimization. Through the multi-disciplinary optimization/design exploration (MDO) method using MeshWorks, we contributed to a weight reduction of approximately 10 kg for the existing SUV platform. 【Case Study】 ■Challenge - Reduce the weight of the existing SUV product line (a significant amount achievable during manufacturing) - Achieve optimal lightweighting of the vehicle's BIW and chassis ■Proposal - A three-phase approach consisting of baseline evaluation, parameterization using MeshWorks, and optimization *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
