Elevated Bridge Cation Exchange Resin "Muromac UL Series"

High oxidation resistance elevated bridge cation exchange resin - Muromac UL series

The Muromac UL series is a high-level cross-linked cation exchange resin that has successfully achieved high oxidation resistance by increasing the degree of cross-linking, significantly reducing the leaching of high molecular weight organic substances. ≪Features of the UL Series≫ ● Due to its high degree of cross-linking, it exhibits outstanding oxidation resistance. ● Because of its excellent oxidation resistance, it has low organic substance leaching. ● It has low leaching of high molecular weight organic substances, which can cause performance degradation in anion resins. ● Compared to general-purpose resins, its exchange capacity is approximately 20% larger. ● With a larger exchange capacity, the amount of water that can be sampled is greater, reducing the frequency of regeneration. ● From these perspectives, it is expected to help suppress water quality deterioration, extend resin lifespan, and increase sampling capacity.

[Case Study] Proposal for Ion Exchange Resin Cleaning to Meet User Standard Values

Retaining knowledge of various ion exchange resins! We have solved the concerns of establishing cleaning methods and implementing cleaning operations.

We would like to introduce a case where we resolved the construction of a cleaning method to meet individual user quality requirements and the contracting of cleaning work. The user has an ion exchange resin used for analytical purposes, but issues arose due to trace contaminants (such as residues from surfactants) on the surface of the ion exchange resin. However, according to the Certificate of Analysis (COA) from the resin manufacturer, it was deemed a pass, and the manufacturer stated that further cleaning was difficult. Since the ion exchange resin from the LOT that experienced issues during user testing could no longer be used, we sought a cleaning method to meet the required quality. Umemura Chemical has extensive knowledge of various ion exchange resins, so we received a request to consider a resin cleaning method. [Overview] - Industry: Analytical Testing - Area: Confidential - Key Technology: Cleaning of Ion Exchange Resins *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Examination of Cu and Cd Treatment Using Chelating Resin

You have confirmed that the ion exchange resin can process Cu and Cd at lower and more stable levels!

We would like to introduce a case study confirming the effectiveness of treating Cu and Cd in on-site water using chelating resin. The facility was struggling with the desire to "lower and stabilize the values of Cu and Cd in the on-site water generated at the site," and the challenge was whether the chelating resin could achieve a lower and more stable treatment. Currently, the generated on-site water is stored in a reservoir, and treatment is performed by adding neutralizing agents and coagulants, but they were considering whether there might be a better treatment method. In response, Muromachi Chemical proposed "conducting actual treatment data acquisition using a testing machine on-site with chelating resin." [Overview] - Area: Chubu region - Treatment capacity: 60m3/h - Main technology: Ion exchange resin *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Drying and Crushing of Ion Exchange Resin

A case that solved the selection of ion exchange resins and the processing into powder form for use as filter materials!

We will introduce a case of drying and grinding ion exchange resin. The recurring challenge was the selection method for ion exchange resin, which serves as the material for developing new filters. Additionally, to use the ion exchange resin in filters, it needed to be dried and ground. Since we relied on outsourcing to companies capable of handling each process, manufacturing took longer, leading to increased material costs. By managing the entire process from application development to processing of ion exchange resin in-house, we were able to select suitable products from a wide range of ion exchange resins and perform the drying and grinding of the resin in the same factory, resulting in improved efficiency. [Overview] ■Industry: Chemical Manufacturer ■Area: Ion Exchange Resin (Drying and Grinding) *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Selenium Removal from Drainage

There were no major construction works required for the sedimentation equipment, which helped keep costs and time down!

Selenium at a concentration of 0.4 ppm is present in the drainage generated from tunnel construction, and since construction cannot proceed unless the drainage is reduced to below the standard value of 0.1 ppm, we considered whether treatment using ion exchange resin could be implemented. Generally, the drainage generated from tunnel construction undergoes coagulation and sedimentation treatment; however, this requires a large equipment space and may lead to factors causing poor coagulation. Therefore, we sampled the actual drainage occurring at the site and conducted a liquid flow test using ion exchange resin at our lab. We confirmed the adsorption performance for selenium and demonstrated that treatment from 0.4 ppm to below 0.1 ppm is possible. [Issues with Coagulation and Sedimentation Treatment] ■ Removal of Selenium from Drainage - The concentration of selenium in the drainage generated from construction fluctuates, causing variations in the selenium concentration of the treated water from coagulation and sedimentation. - These fluctuations can also lead to variations in the amount of coagulant used, potentially resulting in poor coagulation. ■ Large equipment space required. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Processing (Cleaning) of Ion Exchange Resins to Meet Customer Quality Requirements

We will introduce a case where two issues, the establishment of a cleaning method and the implementation of cleaning work, were resolved!

There is an ion exchange resin used for analytical purposes, but issues have arisen due to trace contaminants (such as residues from surfactants) on the surface of the ion exchange resin. Additionally, the manufacturer has indicated that further cleaning beyond what has already been done is difficult, and we have been exploring cleaning methods to meet the customer's specific quality requirements. Since the customer's quality evaluation test methods were not disclosed, we created several cleaning samples by adjusting the chemicals and process times used for cleaning. After evaluating multiple samples, we established a cleaning method that meets the required quality. 【Case Overview】 ■ Industry: Analytical Testing ■ Key Technology: Cleaning of Ion Exchange Resin ■ Challenge: Resolving issues caused by surface contaminants on ion exchange resin used for analytical purposes *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Technical Column] Particle Size Distribution and Hydraulic Characteristics of Ion Exchange Resins

I will explain topics such as "differences in characteristics due to particle size distribution" and "backwashing expansion and separation characteristics"!

Ion exchange resins are spherical substances with a diameter of approximately 0.3 to 1.2 mm, and there are ion exchange resins with a wide range of particle size distributions known as "Gaussian distribution" and those with a nearly uniform particle size distribution called "uniform particle size distribution." These are used differently depending on their applications, but ion exchange resins with a uniform particle size distribution often have advantageous characteristics. In this column, we explain topics such as "differences in particle size distribution due to manufacturing methods" and "differential pressure characteristics (pressure loss)." [Overview] ■ Differences in particle size distribution due to manufacturing methods ■ Differences in characteristics based on particle size distribution ■ Differential pressure characteristics (pressure loss) ■ Backwashing expansion and separation characteristics ■ Swelling ratio *For detailed content of the column, please refer to the related links.
