[Column] AK Tape (Hook and Loop Fastener) Used in Such Places

A column introducing the surprising use of hook-and-loop fasteners in many industrial applications!

What comes to mind when you think of Velcro and where it is used? Before joining Araco, I mostly thought of its use in apparel, such as wallets and bags from brands I liked during my student days, baseball batting gloves, and children's sneakers. I still remember being surprised to learn that Velcro is also widely used in industrial applications after joining the company. I would like to share some of the uses that made me think, "Wow, it's used there!" when I first joined. [Some of the content includes:] - Transparent curtains at the entrance of izakayas (Japanese pubs) - Adhesion of ventilation fans and filters in trains and kitchens - Seats in cars and trains - Backdrops in live venues and TV studios *For more details on the column, please refer to the related links. [Column] Useful Tips About Velcro

Introducing tips for improving the adhesion of hook-and-loop fasteners in our column!

When it comes to hook-and-loop fasteners, they are commonly used in various areas such as clothing, wallets, bags, and children's athletic shoes. Have you ever experienced that they don't stick as well as they used to? Hook-and-loop fasteners consist of a slightly hard J-hook (male) and a fluffy loop (female) that interlock for attachment and detachment. Therefore, if either side gets dirty, the hooks become stretched out, or the loops break, they will not be able to perform their intended function. So, what can be done? Here are some tips to improve their sticking ability. [Contents] ■ When dirt gets stuck ■ When cleaning does not restore functionality *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. Feel free to contact us for further inquiries.

[Case Study of Problem Solving] Packaging and Logistics Industry Case 1

Preventing cargo collapse with hook-and-loop fasteners instead of stretch film! A case of cost reduction.

We would like to introduce a case that solved the concerns of our customers in the packaging and logistics industry who said, "The work with stretch film is difficult, and we want to do something about it." In response to the request for an easier way to bundle, we proposed the hook-and-loop fastener 'DUO-PLEX 25mm Black,' which allows for a method of folding back and securing, with both hooks and loops mixed on one side. By effectively utilizing the holes available on the pallet and threading the hook-and-loop fastener through these holes to fold back and secure, bundling has become much easier. 【Overview】 ■ Challenge - The work with stretch film is difficult, and we want to do something about it. ■ Result - Proposed a hook-and-loop fastener with both hooks and loops mixed on one side. - Allows for a method of folding back and securing. - Effectively utilizes the holes available on the pallet. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Similarly, as I mentioned before, hook-and-loop fasteners are referred to as "Velcro," "AK Tape," and "Magic Tape," and the names can vary by person, region, and generation. I found it interesting that there are also various names for the J hook and loop of hook-and-loop fasteners, so I wanted to share that. 【Content Overview】 <Names for J Hooks / Loops> ■ A Side / B Side ■ Male / Female ■ Onta / Menta ■ Hard Side / Soft Side *For more details on the column, you can view it through the related links. [Case Study on Problem Solving] Curtain and Interior Processing Industry Case 5

There is a large roll of hook and loop fastener! This is a case that led to a significant improvement in production efficiency and a reduction in scrap materials.

We would like to introduce a case that solved the customer's concern in the curtain and interior processing industry about wanting to reduce the waste of Velcro that cannot be used and is thrown away. There was a problem where switching operations became cumbersome with 25m rolls for long sewing on curtains, resulting in leftover materials that felt wasteful as the necessary amount could not be obtained. Therefore, we proposed a product that could be shipped in 50m rolls. By doubling the number of rolls from 25m to 50m, this led to a significant improvement in production efficiency and a reduction in leftover materials, reducing waste and halving the switching effort. [Overview] ■ Issues - Switching operations are cumbersome with 25m rolls for long sewing on curtains - Want to reduce the waste of Velcro that cannot be used and is thrown away ■ Results - The number of rolls doubled from 25m to 50m - Led to a significant improvement in production efficiency and reduction of leftover materials - Reduced waste and halved the switching effort *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Velcro in everyday life

Velcro used for protectors! Introducing Arako Column vol. 28.

The other day, I purchased a set of protectors (knee, elbow, and hand/3-piece set) for my child's bicycle practice. I don't think I wore them when I was a child, but they seem to be quite common these days. When I tried to put them on my child, I noticed that the protectors were made up of products like hook-and-loop fasteners, W-russell, and flat rings, which are all items that Arako usually handles, and I suddenly thought that it might be possible to create them. Since I have never approached a company that makes protectors before, I am considering making a proposal in the future. It seems there is still a lot I can contribute to an industry I am not yet familiar with. *For more details on the column, you can view it through the related links. Surprisingly many types of AK tape installations.

Types of methods for attaching hook-and-loop fasteners! Introducing Arako Column vol. 23.

The official name of AK tape is "hook and loop fastener." In Japan, the trademark "Magic Tape" from Kuraray may be more familiar. Various companies sell it under different trademarks such as "Velcro" and "Quickron." When the general public hears "hook and loop fastener," they often associate it with items like bags, lids, and the belt parts of sneakers, leading to the perception that it is something that is sewn on. However, there are many different methods for attaching hook and loop fasteners. *For more details on the column, you can view it through the related links. The itchy spot of the hook-and-loop fastener.

Explanation of the peeling of hook-and-loop fasteners! Introducing Arako Column vol. 6.

Because I love hook-and-loop fasteners, I will dare to talk about the itchy spots of hook-and-loop fasteners. This applies to all hook-and-loop fasteners, including those from other manufacturers. I play baseball on the weekends. Almost everyone who plays baseball uses batting gloves like the ones in the photo when batting. There are various designs and grip strengths, and each manufacturer puts effort into their products. Almost 100% of batting gloves have our hook-and-loop fasteners attached. *For more details on the column, you can view it through the related link. Do you know why it is called a hook-and-loop fastener?

Fastening with face to face! Introducing Arako Column vol. 7.

I have mentioned before that AK tape and Velcro are actually trademarks. AK tape is a trademark of our company, Araco. Velcro is a trademark of Kuraray. Quicklon is a trademark of YKK. While there are some differences in specifications depending on the company, I believe they generally serve the same purpose. *You can view the detailed content of the column through the related links.
