We will introduce a case study measuring the moisture content of "down" used in high-end bedding and outerwear.

This is a case study measuring the moisture content of "down" used in high-quality bedding and outerwear. As a characteristic of down, the moisture it contains maintains equilibrium. In other words, it releases or absorbs moisture depending on the humidity of the outside air. Therefore, during transactions, the mass is based on the standard moisture content. If there is a difference in the standard moisture content, it can lead to a significant issue where, despite trading high-quality down, water is being traded instead. In this instance, we measured using the standard infrared moisture meter model "FD-720." [Infrared Moisture Measurement Case Study] Measured the moisture content of candy and caramel.

Measuring the moisture content of samples that are sweet, high-temperature, and meltable requires a bit of ingenuity.

Here is a case study of measuring candy and caramel using the infrared moisture meter "FD-720." Sweet samples, meaning those high in sugar, tend to burn quickly when exposed to high temperatures. The burnt areas form a film that makes it difficult for moisture to evaporate, trapping moisture inside and preventing accurate overall moisture measurement. On the other hand, at low temperatures, moisture evaporates slowly, and if there is no mass change, the infrared moisture meter may mistakenly think the measurement is complete, so some ingenuity is required here as well. An effective method is to utilize the "Step Drying Mode" feature of the infrared moisture meters FD-720/800. By appropriately selecting the drying mode, moisture can be evaporated without burning. [Infrared Moisture Measurement Example] Measured the moisture content of drinking yogurt.

Here is a case study on measuring the moisture content of drinking yogurt. Drinking yogurt is mostly composed of moisture, as its appearance suggests. It is also known to have high levels of milk fat and sugar. When heat is applied, a film forms on the surface, making it difficult for only the moisture to evaporate, which is a typical characteristic of this sample. Therefore, an effective method is to utilize the "slow drying mode" function of the infrared moisture meter FD-720/800. By gradually raising the temperature over about 5 minutes to the set temperature, moisture is evaporated slowly, making it difficult for a film to form on the surface and allowing for drying without burning.
