FMC casting creates products by making a foam model in the same shape as the product using expanded polystyrene, and then embedding that foam model in a sand mold to produce the product through replacement with molten metal. This process makes it difficult for burrs to form and allows for the creation of complex and high-precision products. For small lots, cost reduction is possible compared to the wooden pattern method.
