Gasket Packing Q&A No. 10: Gasket Penetration Leakage Edition

What causes leaks when using gaskets? ~Permeation leak edition~

There are various factors that can cause leaks when using gaskets, but this time I will explain about permeation leaks. ◆ What is permeation leak? 〇 A phenomenon where the sealing material is permeated, causing the internal fluid to leak. ◆ Countermeasures 〇 Increase the density of the sealing material by compressing it with tightening force to fill the tiny gaps inside the sealing material. ◆ Requirements for sealing materials 〇 Density 〇 Resistance to permeation 〇 Applying rubber or resin-based paste materials to the inner diameter end face is also effective.

NBR Rubber Processing Example | Improved Sealing Performance Double-Sided Step Gasket

By combining precise cuts with a water jet and adhesive processing using skilled techniques, we create high-value-added products!

Based on the customer's drawing, we manufactured a large-diameter gasket with an outer diameter of φ548mm and an inner diameter of φ410mm from a 5mm thick NBR rubber sheet. First, we precisely cut the gasket body (with 16 φ27mm bolt holes on a P.C.D. of 510mm) and the ring-shaped parts using a water jet cutting machine. After that, we bonded the rings to both sides of the body, finishing it as a stepped seal gasket. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links.
