The ground replacement method "Columbus+" provides dual effects of differential settlement countermeasures and seismic resistance, making it a method that is strong against earthquakes and liquefaction.
It is recommended for ultra-soft ground, pile foundations, friction pile foundations, designated archaeological areas, underground obstacles, periodic land leases, vibration countermeasures, and earthquake measures.
By removing the heavy soil beneath the foundation and placing lightweight EPS (expanded polystyrene) "Geoform" in its place, the weight of the building on the soft ground is reduced, thereby suppressing settlement. Furthermore, by balancing with the ground, it prevents differential settlement where the building tilts and sinks, ensuring safety even on ultra-soft ground with deep support layers.
