"WPC treatment" is a surface treatment method for tools characterized by the spraying of spherical abrasives with a particle size of 300 to 800 mesh, along with a gas flow at a pressure range of 0.3 to 1 MPa, to refine and densify the surface structure of the tools. It is a registered trademark of Fuji Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Fuji Machine Sales Co., Ltd. In powder alloy cutting tools and the like, it improves mechanical properties such as wear resistance, suppression of edge chipping, and chipping resistance, while also enhancing the quality of the machined workpieces in terms of dimensional accuracy and surface roughness. Moreover, even when CVD or PVD coatings are applied, it suppresses the phenomenon of binder precipitation in the surface layer, further enhancing wear resistance and durability without compromising the effectiveness of the coating. We would like to report the measurement results of cutting tools processed with our precision shot peening "OX-FSP." According to a technical report from Company T, it has been confirmed that the lifespan of cutting tools has improved by more than 1.5 times, resulting in reduced costs. Additionally, it contributes to cost reduction due to the improved lifespan of welded tips and the lifespan enhancement from cutter OX treatment.
