Article 37 of the Building Standards Act requires that specified building materials used for major structural components of buildings must be JIS standard products or products certified by the Minister. Since turnbuckles are classified as specified building materials, turnbuckles (turnbuckle braces) used in buildings must be JIS standard products. In the event of a major earthquake, the axial elongation performance of the turnbuckle brace will be maximized, preventing the collapse of the building. JIS-certified factories ensure that turnbuckle braces can be used safely anywhere in the country by managing the rolling screw processing and screw accuracy required for axial elongation, using controlled steel materials, and employing welded turnbuckle bolts, as well as using turnbuckle bodies that guarantee sufficient strength based on weight regulations.
