On November 17, 2021, I participated in the Converting Webinar Week organized by the Processing Technology Research Association. I have compiled the slides used during that time into a handout format. Here is a list of the cases introduced this time: 1. Providing total solutions from powder slurry to sheet formation. 2. Custom solutions for a wide range of film thickness characteristics using movable slot dies. 3. Design proposals for good handling during the setup of wide, large rolls. We received a request from a customer stating, "We would like to evaluate the UV curing properties of a solvent-free UV-curable coating applied as a wet film of a few microns on a special PET film." In this case, there are constraints such as not knowing the limits of UV cumulative light quantity and coating thickness, as well as not being able to select the appropriate plate to achieve the desired coating thickness. The customer requested samples to be approximately a few meters at each level. The tests were conducted in two stages. As a result, in the first step, we successfully completed a multi-level test with more than 8 levels within 3 hours, and in the second step, we successfully completed a multi-level test with 15 levels within 3 hours. We would like to introduce a case based on requests and consultations from a customer who discovered issues during a regular inspection 10 years after installation. In this case, there were challenges such as defects in the doctor slide of the micro gravure coating section, an air cylinder that was only functioning on one side, and the aging of the control panel. We received a request from a customer stating, "We would like to widen the micro gravure rolls to improve production efficiency." To widen the roll width while maintaining the same quality as the existing product (50Φ), we produced several roll diameters and conducted coating verification with actual liquid.
