The National Media Council of the United Arab Emirates adopted the design proposal by architect Santiago Calatrava for the UAE Pavilion at the 2020 Dubai International Expo. In July 2017, Arabtec Construction, a 100% subsidiary of Arabtec Holding, which is responsible for infrastructure development, won the construction contract for the pavilion. Despite facing various challenges, including a very tight deadline and the fact that all major rib materials were cambered, we received positive feedback stating, "Thanks to Tekla Structures and Tekla BIMsight, we were able to complete the project while collaborating effectively." [Challenges] ■ Very tight deadline ■ Composed mostly of beams joined with special specifications ■ All major rib materials are cambered *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us. Free membership registrationWe would like to introduce a case study of BIM software implementation at the "2020 Dubai International Expo Mobility Pavilion." In this project, Tiger Steel was responsible for everything from the detailed design and fabrication of the steel structure, including the examination of joints, to construction. The three-dimensional structure and complex joints were very challenging, but this was resolved by using "Tekla Structures." The biggest advantage of using this software is that it makes coordination with other stakeholders easier. [Case Overview] ■ Challenge: The three-dimensional structure and complex joints were very difficult. ■ Result: This was resolved by using Tekla Structures. ■ Benefit: Coordination with other stakeholders became easier. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. Free membership registrationWe would like to introduce a case study on the implementation of BIM software in the design of Maren's Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler. In this project, the use of "Tekla Structures" was essential for coordinating and adapting various piping and structural designs across different sections. Tasks were allocated early in the bidding phase, and effective detailed design of joints allowed for quick generation of drawings, minimizing design errors. At the points where structural steel components connect to the plant piping supports, structural members either converted IFC data to raw data of the same product or referenced IFC as information to be displayed in product drawings for verification. High-level detailed design has led to zero errors. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. Free membership registrationWest Terminal 2 is a new ferry passenger terminal in Helsinki, Finland, completed in March 2017. The new terminal was designed with a focus on functionality to ensure smooth and efficient boarding and disembarking for passengers. Many stakeholders utilized BIM throughout the project, from design to manufacturing and construction, in pursuit of design and quality. BIM software was introduced for design, structure, and equipment design, and "Tekla Structures" was adopted for the design of the building, which features a geometric design including a curved roof, sloped canopies and facades, and tall glass walls. BIM is not only an excellent tool for adjusting various design requirements and achieving complex construction within a short timeframe, but the client also appreciates that it helped deepen the understanding of the design. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. Free membership registrationAbout 100 years ago, Porin Puuvilla was used as a spinning mill, and in 2014, it was transformed into a large shopping center with offices, a housing sales center, warehouses, and parking, while retaining some of the factory's features. The 13 companies involved in this large-scale renovation project utilized model-based design and leveraged BIM throughout the project, significantly improving the construction process and the quality of the building. Parma, which handled the design, manufacturing, and construction of precast concrete, worked on BIM within a very tight schedule. They not only extensively utilized rich model information in manufacturing and construction but also focused on modeling with consideration for the needs of all stakeholders, facilitating collaboration among them at each phase. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. Free membership registrationAt Denver International Airport, the construction of a new train station connecting downtown to the airport and a hotel is underway. The design of this hotel, including its curved roof, evokes the image of an airplane when viewed as a whole. To achieve this exterior, which consists of many curved surfaces and intricate parts, technology was required to accurately process various complexly bent shapes of plates. Therefore, the project team set it up so that the coordinate location information output from "Tekla Structures" is automatically displayed on each fabrication drawing. This made precise processing possible. By having all stakeholders use Tekla, it has become easier for team members to carry out various tasks such as planning, data exchange, and defect corrections, thereby achieving efficient collaboration. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. Free membership registrationThe new plant "Amar Bakke," aimed at waste incineration and energy recovery, has replaced the Amar incinerator, which had been in use for 40 years until 2017, and features ski slopes and a climbing wall. The Danish engineering company Moe A/S was responsible for the planning of the structure and the management of the Amar Bakke project. Utilizing "Tekla Structures," they detailed the modeling from rivets to bolts, and also used it for generating quantity specifications, bid lists, order catalogs, and construction management. This product is consistently used daily by a drafting and modeling team of 3 to 6 people, while structural engineers check intricate details within the model and take measurements, sharing the model with other project stakeholders for collaboration. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. Free membership registrationOslo Airport's Terminal 2 is a massive construction project involving over 100 affiliated companies, which must ensure safety and airport security on a daily basis while smoothly and reliably carrying out regular operations. This has posed a challenge for Aas-Jakobsen, the main structural engineer. The project required smooth collaboration with the airport management company, Avinor, and end clients, necessitating modeling by the affiliated companies. After trying several software solutions, Avinor decided to adopt "Tekla Structures" for this project. By using the Tekla Structures model for visualization, the creation of reinforced concrete, generation of documentation, and scheduling have become easier, and the model has also been beneficial to the affiliated companies. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. Free membership registrationLamprell, a company engaged in the engineering of marine structures, chose "Tekla Structures" with a good understanding of the speed, accuracy, consistency of detailed design, and the interference checking function between steel components, as well as the benefits of visualization. Initially, there were some doubts about the plan to use Tekla software for the fabrication of the barge, but considering the accuracy of the software, it was unanimously decided that utilizing 3D modeling would be the better approach. The modeled barge was able to extract various detailed information, such as platforms and handrails, within approximately 4 to 5 months. The team has a strong trust in the support system of this product and expresses great satisfaction with the ease of managing documentation on the software and the functionality for keeping records of drawing changes. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.
