Are you experiencing difficulties discharging fine powders that are highly cohesive and prone to forming lumps? In this case study, we focus on the discharge risks caused by material characteristics—such as jamming and adhesion—and on the downstream issues that arise when powders are discharged in agglomerated form. To address these challenges, we conducted real machine testing and identified the optimal conditions for both de-agglomeration and discharge. At Aisin Industry, comparative tests were carried out using two types of equipment: a rotary valve and a De-agglomerator. By evaluating the performance of each, we clarified the most suitable processing conditions for the material. Thanks to our extensive range of in-house testing machines, we can conduct trials under conditions that closely replicate actual usage environments. Based on reliable data, we propose practical and effective countermeasures for handling even the most difficult-to-discharge materials. ・ ・ ・ ▼ Please download the materials to see the solutions to this issue.

Free membership registrationThe general-purpose rotary valve "Scraper Type SC Series" features a structure that synchronizes the rotation of the scraping blades with the rotor through gear drive. It is suitable for high-adhesion powders and granules that do not separate with steel ball rotors or air blow, and it scrapes off the pocket sections of the rotor with a scraper. We offer a lineup of diameters ranging from 150 to 450. For more details, please download the catalog.

Free membership registrationA rotary valve is a mechanism that inserts a rotor, which rotates driven by a motor, into a horizontal cylindrical case. The powdered material is filled into the rotor from the top and is moved to the bottom by rotation, where it is discharged and supplied by gravity. Stopping the rotation halts the supply of the powdered material, while starting the rotation initiates the supply. By combining it with a variable-speed motor, it is also possible to control the supply speed of the powdered material. The size of the rotary valve is determined by the required discharge capacity. Additionally, the powdered materials handled can vary widely, allowing for the selection of the optimal unit from various combinations of material, rotor shape, and diverse options.
