Information collection and analysis of lacquer, product development and sales that utilize lacquer while adding modernity, restoration of lacquer products and development of new materials, various interior coordination.

In 1975, upon receiving a request from Rosenthal GmbH in Germany to investigate traditional Japanese materials, I selected urushi (lacquer) and established the KISO Research Institute as a platform for this purpose. Together with eight members and professors from art universities, I began research on urushi, collaborating with designers such as Max Tinker, Burkhard Hocktheil, and Tetsuo Nakagawa to develop modern furniture and URUSHI GOODS, which were then produced and exported. Subsequently, to facilitate domestic sales of URUSHI GOODS, the KISO Research Institute was transformed into Bushi Co., Ltd. In 1981, I opened a directly managed store in Roppongi Axis, unveiling URUSHI GOODS designed by Motomi Kawakami, capturing public attention. Since then, I have continued to challenge various traditional Japanese materials beyond urushi.
