KATAOKA has been steadfast in the development and production of dedicated piston ring processing machines for nearly 50 years. The challenge to enter the niche market of developing dedicated machines for processing piston rings, which are critical components incorporated into engines for automobiles and ships, began in 1963 (Showa 38). Sensing a new development in automotive parts manufacturing in Japan, we embarked on an endless journey of dedicated machine development to achieve high quality, productivity, and cost reduction, and have since continued to develop and produce over 90 different models. In recent years, responding to new demands, we have begun the development and production of dedicated machines for processing camshafts, automatic transmissions, and rotary engine sealing rings, leading us into new fields.
