In 2006, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism launched the "Sewage Quick Project." The use of factory-made ultra-small-scale treatment facilities, one of its methods, has begun in the Tokiwa-no processing area of Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture. In January of this year, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare each issued notification documents regarding dialysis wastewater. Furthermore, in the same month, three organizations—the Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy, the Japanese Society of Dialysis Physicians, and the Japanese Association of Clinical Engineers—established a working group for dialysis wastewater management, highlighting the urgent need for medical institutions to comply with sewage discharge standards. *For more detailed information, please refer to the PDF materials.
