Have you ever seen a box like the one in the photo near a railway crossing? This is a storage unit for signal equipment, known as a signal equipment box. Most of the aluminum boxes of this type are actually our products. Signal equipment boxes were originally made of iron, but nowadays, lightweight and corrosion-resistant aluminum boxes are widely used. Our company has been at the forefront of manufacturing outdoor installation boxes for railway-related equipment, starting with aluminum signal equipment boxes. Boxes of this type made from aluminum are our specialty. Aluminum has excellent properties that other materials do not possess. At Sakaguchi Manufacturing Co., Ltd., we have developed outdoor and indoor smoking booths by applying the technology of clean booths. Originally, these were manufactured for internal smoking separation, but due to the positive feedback from customers who visited our company, we decided to sell them externally. A clean booth is installed when you want to create an area with even higher cleanliness within a clean room. Sakaguchi Manufacturing Co., Ltd. manufactures aluminum and stainless steel clean booths that can achieve cleanliness levels up to Class 100 (fewer than 100 particles of 0.5 microns or larger per cubic foot) and delivers them to many factories in Japan and abroad in the pharmaceutical, food, chemical, and semiconductor industries. We also manufacture the FFU (fan filter unit) installed in the clean booth in-house, allowing for customization according to installation space and customer requirements. Our company's spot welding machine (resistance welder) discharges the energy charged in the electrolytic capacitor instantly to the welding transformer, allowing for a large welding current. This structure results in a beautiful welding appearance with less thermal distortion and oxidation compared to conventional inverter-type resistance welders. The specific gravity of magnesium is about one-fourth that of iron and about two-thirds that of aluminum, making it the lightest among practical alloys. Additionally, it has the highest specific strength (strength per unit weight), which makes it a key material for weight reduction and energy conservation. On the other hand, magnesium alloys have the drawback of being "flammable." Flame-retardant magnesium has been developed to address this "flammable" issue, which has been a barrier to practical use, resulting in "flame-resistant magnesium alloys." With the advent of flame-retardant magnesium alloys, it is expected that the applications of magnesium will significantly expand in the future. Sakaguchi Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is also trying out welding of flame-retardant magnesium and has confirmed that it can be welded without any issues. Welding of stainless steel is also a specialty of Sakaguchi Manufacturing Co., Ltd. There are 12 holders of JIS welding qualifications among our staff, with a total of 34 qualifications. We have also produced multiple top prize winners, including champions, in external competitions that focus on stainless steel welding. We have a track record of manufacturing products that require high precision and high reliability, such as those related to nuclear power. Aluminum welding is generally considered difficult, but in fact, this is precisely where Sakaguchi Manufacturing Co., Ltd. excels the most. Our Wakayama factory has 23 JIS-certified aluminum welding technicians, with a total of 115 qualifications across basic and specialized levels (as of February 2024). Our capabilities are well-recognized, with many employees achieving top placements, including victories, in national competitions. We also have two qualified Level 2 penetrant testing inspectors, allowing us to provide a consistent response from sheet metal fabrication to welding and inspection within our company. Due to these capabilities, our Wakayama factory has received the "M-class" certification for lightweight metal welding structural manufacturing, which is only held by eight locations nationwide. We have provided various aluminum welded products to the world, including parts for Shinkansen trains and water tanks for fire trucks. We hope to share the know-how we have cultivated through these experiences with everyone. We can accommodate a wide range of needs, from large welded structures to mass-produced items and products that are difficult to manufacture elsewhere. The process of "string-out processing" (also known as bead processing) refers to the method of forming linear protrusions on the flat surface of a metal sheet. When thickening the material to ensure the strength of sheet metal products, not only does the material cost increase, but the weight also rises. By performing string-out processing, it becomes possible to reduce material costs and achieve lightweighting without compromising strength. The EMLZ15AJP punch and fiber laser hybrid machine introduced by Sakaguchi Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in March 2021 is equipped with a P&F (Punch and Forming) function. The P&F function allows the forming cylinder to raise only the chip of the forming die. This enables forming processing along the same path line as the punch, allowing for string-out processing with minimal distortion even on large sheets sized 5×10.
