The process of "string-out processing" (also known as bead processing) refers to the method of forming linear protrusions on the flat surface of a metal sheet. When thickening the material to ensure the strength of sheet metal products, not only does the material cost increase, but the weight also rises. By performing string-out processing, it becomes possible to reduce material costs and achieve lightweighting without compromising strength. The EMLZ15AJP punch and fiber laser hybrid machine introduced by Sakaguchi Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in March 2021 is equipped with a P&F (Punch and Forming) function. The P&F function allows the forming cylinder to raise only the chip of the forming die. This enables forming processing along the same path line as the punch, allowing for string-out processing with minimal distortion even on large sheets sized 5×10.
