At Takahashi Seiki, we have been advancing 3D design and the elimination of 2D drawings at an early stage within the industry. One issue that arises in this process is the drawings of old products that lack data. With the evolution of measurement technology, we can now accurately digitize shapes using 3D laser scanning, significantly reducing lead times in reverse engineering. We can also scan large molds. At Takahashi Seiki, we are engaged in mass production of plastic injection molding. Due to the characteristics of the molding machines we own, our achievements are primarily in special processes such as two-color molding and insert molding. When placing an order for mass production of molded products, we will generally confirm the requirements such as the expected product size, shape, quantity, and duration, as well as the availability of product data. We would like to introduce Takahashi Seiki's mold manufacturing technology, which can accommodate structures that are difficult to reproduce. We take pride in our high level of technology in multi-material molding (two-color molding), insert molding, and glass encapsulation molding, which are among the best in Japan. We would like to introduce a very important and highly challenging molded product that we mass-produce in-house. This is a decorative piece installed in a prominent location from the driver's seat to the passenger seat in automotive interior parts, essentially representing the "face of the interior." However, due to the intricate design relative to the overall product length (approximately 1 meter), assembly with separate parts and reproduction through painting are both difficult. Nevertheless, in response to our customer's request to "chrome plate only this narrow section," we utilized our specialty in two-color molding. Our company continues to mass-produce molds and molding machines to distinguish which side of the twist-type faucet is hot water and which is cold water. The reason we specifically use colored resin for molding is to prevent accidents where someone might think they are turning on cold water, only to have hot water come out due to paint peeling or color degradation from continued use. The color does not fade even after long-term use in harsh outdoor environments. This has been verified at the handwashing station outside our factory. We would like to introduce a case where a low-cost standard grade was produced using two-color molding, in contrast to a high-grade product made with hand-rolled fake leather. The large size of this part (approximately 1 meter) and the fact that soft resin is applied over the entire surface of the hard resin substrate posed significant challenges for product commercialization. Due to the difference in shrinkage rates between the two materials, the product deformed after molding, and the extent of this deformation far exceeded our expectations, which became a significant lesson for the subsequent design of our two-color molding molds.
