The wastewater generated during manufacturing contains oil components such as machining oil, which we had been disposing of directly through a waste disposal company. With strict cost reduction demands from our customers, we wanted to reduce the costs associated with wastewater treatment. We learned that an oil-water separation system could separate (remove) the oil components and sludge contained in the wastewater to nearly zero, so we first installed a demonstration unit in-house to verify its effectiveness. However, the balance between intake and exhaust was not well managed, resulting in a negative pressure state inside the cooking room. When negative pressure occurs, it becomes easier for garbage, dust, and insects from outside to enter, making it difficult to address the issue. Therefore, a vaporization heat utilization air supply system was introduced. This system utilizes only vaporization heat to cool and supply fresh outside air. In practice, during the summer, it was able to cool outside air from 36°C to about 27°C before supplying it indoors. This system does not have a compressor, allowing it to operate with approximately 70% lower power consumption compared to conventional air supply systems, which is also an attractive feature. The solution we found was to switch to high-efficiency ballasts. Without changing the work environment, we were able to reduce running costs by 43% (measured value). We decided to adopt "electrode-less lamps" because they spread light over a wide area compared to LEDs, illuminating the entire space without glare.
